Emergency School Closings
- St. Mary of the Assumption School Closings or delays coincide with the Van Wert City Schools' closings or delays. If Van Wert City Schools are delayed, closed, or dismissed early because of inclimate weather, St. Mary's will be also.
- Delays or closings will be announced on WERT Radio 1120 AM, FM 99.7 and on area television stations. You can also log onto www.vanwertcougars.net and click on delays/cancellations. If Van Wert City Schools delay or cancel due to weather conditions, we will also be delayed/cancelled.
- A two-hour delay means that school begins two hours later than normal with a normal release time. A three-hour delay means that school begins three hours later than normal with an hour added to the end of the day.
- Please listen to the radio/watch the television/log onto the computer if you suspect there is a reason for a delay or cancellation.
- If school is dismissed early for inclimate weather, we will follow the Van Wert City Schools superintendent's decision on early releases. Please tune into the above listed media or to to www.vanwertcougars.net if you suspect there may be a reason for school to be released early. We will follow normal transportation procedures unless we are notified otherwise. Please be patient if you are trying to call the school when an early release is announced. Our phone lines are very busy during these times.
- Ohio schools are allowed 5 calamity days. After using the 5 days, make-up days are added to the school calendar.
