St. Mary of the Assumption Elementary School

Welcome to St. Mary of the Assumption School!

St. Mary's is a Catholic School encompassing grades K through 6. It is open to children of all faiths, of any race, color, nationality or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to all students. Daily religion classes and weekly student Masses are the focal points of St. Mary's School.

St. Pius X once said, “The soul of education is the education of the soul.” At St. Mary of the Assumption School we believe our school is a community of faith and that our students are children of God. As educators, we are responsible for being ministers of the gospel and teaching values as a call to holiness. We believe the purpose of education is to transform the world.

Our faculty and staff are a wonderful group of caring, compassionate individuals. They share their faith and their talents unconditionally. Our teachers are committed to using educational “Best Practices.” When you walk through our classrooms, you will see cooperative learning, loads of hands-on projects and displays, lessons involving hands-on activities, and lots of encouragement and support from the faculty and staff.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you my thoughts on our school. My favorite part of the school day is every morning and every afternoon when all of the students and teachers gather in the hall. We greet each other and then stand reverently for a few moments and pray together. Next, one of the students or I share a joke and we laugh together or look at each other and say, " I don't get it!" We wish each other God's presence and we are off to start or end the school day. It gives you such a sense of belonging, of family, and of faith. I would not trade those moments for anything. I invite you to join us and you too will see what I mean.

Sincerely,

Jan Schimmoeller

Principal-Minister
