What is a lector?
A lector is someone (other than the Priest or Deacon) who reads at Mass. Usually, a Lector's responsibilities include the proclamation of the two readings that precede the Gospel. Often, the Lector also reads the Responsorial Psalm, the Gospel Acclamation, and the Prayers of the Faithful. When necessary, Lectors also make general announcements before or after Mass.
